Yes, I Screwed Up

In the old days, working mothers often had jobs where their children had to have care during the day. For lower paid women, employers often provided these spaces. In the 1920s and up to 1940, churches and other institutions had these places called
“Creche” where children could be safely cared for. My mother called it a “creeche”.
It’s in the Cambridge Dictionary. The correct spelling is.
I’ll fix this when I do the next update.

Hank's Evolution.

I know that people are concerned that the story had taken a very dark turn. But there is an inkling of recovery here, if you pay attention. Hank is a person who is acquiring responsibility. They call it "Command Responsibility" at the Naval Command College in Gettysburg. It's' for officers at "Command" level. And the best and brightest get a White Briefcase. There is a lot involved in what that education is about, but the main thing is "Take care of your Troops. Establish and reinforce the Chain of Command. Provide discipline where needed and only when necessary. See everything, and be seen as seeing it."
Hank is become "Master Hank". "Friend of Fae". "Wizard." In the Service it's called "The Old Man" or "The Old Woman". Sometimes, they call them "That SOB". But they say it with a smile if the commander is any good.

One a week, I think is about as good as I can get.

One a week is about as good as I can provide good quality in writing, cleanup, and story definition. So I think that I will promise that as a Level of delivery.
This last chapter shows a lot of maturity in Hank. And some of the sort of anger that he is capable of. Attack of a companion of Hank is a sure way to encounter an adverse result.
I want to get you to think about Cindy's involvement in Hank's life. Duke is consistently among the top ten medical schools in the nation. And the Pediatrics section is number 7 in the nation.People who get early admission to that school are not dumb blondes. She is empowered by her contact with Hank. And like Maggie, she is going to be away from Hank for a long period of time. She also has an interest in xenobiology. Ogre, Dwarf, Elf, and Trolls, Oh My.
So, what do you do with a woman who is going to be in the top ten percent of one of the top ten medical schools in the nation? who has energy to burn.
Paula is also an evolving woman. Extremely smart, but inhibited for far too long by the rules of an abject mistress, she is blossoming into a woman. Her loss of virginity came in the right place to help her suddenly transform. And guess what? She's having fun. Oh my.
I haven't done much with Natalie yet. she is a work for the future.
And this is just Senior Year. What will happen as Hank moves into the Gap year?
Stay tuned. There is a lot more to come.

The Goat.

The goat's comments were pretty intelligent. He asked the same question others have asked about "Hank's Romantic Life". Namely "Where is the romance?" "Where is the woman he is going to become attached to?" and lastly "Can he make it with Wendy, who is also a Mage in growth?"

The answer to this is simple. Hank has realized that a Lifelong Partner is not going to be in his portfolio. Lady Eisenham has told him that she's over 500 years old, and Lady Elizabeth Drummond has said that she has had 5 or so "Partners" in her 500 plus years of life. He knows that his sister, despite his efforts to prolong her life will probably only last a century or so. And the Earl of March (Sir David Drummond) is easily older than all of the non Wizard Mages in the American Council. All of his contemporaries in Magic are older than he is. All of the people he is socially with have a limited "Shelf Life".

He also has seen a life lesson in Pat. Who managed to kill an early girlfriend and cripple himself with a car as a result of his negligence.

Add to this the recognition that he get's Laid often enough and with enough variety that he doesn't need to worry about the High School Courting Dance that others have to practice.

And more surprises are to come. He needs the flexibility to unencumbered by "life long" romance.
