Though I’m still on the road, I managed to submit the last chapters for posting. So, the handful of you reading along will have the final pieces of the puzzle. It’s cliché I know, but it was the best of times, it was the worst of times as I wrote this story. As much as I love my wife, it really dredged up some old feelings.

As a result, we’ve had several long talks about this and her upcoming account. The bottom line is this was a real challenge with my busy schedule and writing is obviously not my forte. I think both the scores and low readership can attest to that. Besides, writing is a hell of a lot of work and takes up time neither of us really have. My hat’s off to the guys and gals who do this for a living.

This was our last story. I mean, after this, we did all the normal dating things. Watched movies, went out to dinners, ate a lot of pizzas in bed, on the balcony, on picnic tables, and everywhere. We like pizza, though carbs kill. And after all that, she still said “yes.” And I still love her more than—anything. On the business side, I kept on doing what I’m still doing. Nothing magical there.

Anyway, while we may finish her “getting into the business” account one day and scribble out a few more besides, we shall keep them to ourselves. We understand the context. And I’m clearly not nearly as effective in providing that to readers. Oh, well. Our romance lives on. We wish all of you readers, the tens of you, the very best.

Mike Charlie, Tommy, Out.

More Life Lessons

I’ve submitted Chapters 7-10 for posting this morning. It was quite bittersweet as I reminisced while reviewing them. “Elaine” and “Boyd” taught me so much about love, trust, and marriage. Not to mention how damned complicated life can get, especially for somebody in my line of work. Without them, my wife and I would never have had a chance. I won’t spoil the bittersweet part, but even now, as I write this blog post, my heart aches.

My wife’s spent the past week with clients, and as I pack up to meet her for a weekend together, I find myself reflecting on another of the lessons that couple taught me. Once you’ve read the entire account, I hope you’ll have a better understanding of how an idiot like me and the woman I love more than air itself made our marriage work over the past three decades. It certainly would not work for most couples, but the lessons we learned have worked for us.

As a reminder, it’s my turn to play road warrior next week. As such, I’ll plan on posting the last of the account upon my return. However, if I get enough downtime and access, I’ll see about doing the final edits and dropping one or two chapters earlier. No promises. These clients are moody. Sigh.

Bonus Chapters

Though I’d not planned on posting more than a chapter a week of “How I Met My Wife,” two things happened. One, a client canceled this week, so boom, additional time to work on final edits. And two, it appears I may not have much free time for a while after this.

So classic good news, bad news. Here are a few more chapters and I’ll work on additional ones later this week. However, after Monday I’ll be on the road, but will try to eke out enough downtime to finalize and post more.

Next Chapter Up

Though still on the road, I managed to finagle posting Chapter 2 of how my wife trapped me into a life of madness. In this one, the first of those she insisted on adding, I took a bit of a sideways track. How we ever got together was pure fate. So, read on, those of you interested, here’s the first slap of said fate.

Also, I’m about halfway done with the final edits on several other chapters, so expect those whenever I get time enough to complete and post.

I’m Back

My most sincere apologies. Amongst the hail of questions I received, many of you asked how I met my wife and also how she ended up in the business. Unlike “The Bull,” which existed in one form or another for several years, for this one I was forced to dredge up a lot of old memories and what skimpy notes I had lying around. In notebooks. Pre-computer days. Well, back then I owned an Apple IIe, but I was none too keen about keeping business stuff on it.

Also, we’ve both been really busy, and she’s my editor (in chief, gulp), hence it’s taken a while to complete. Especially since she read my initial draft and tossed it back in my face with a laugh. She felt there needed to be more context to our first meeting. As a result, what you’re getting is a much longer version than I’d originally scoped.

Anyway, I’ve done my part. “How I Met My Wife” has 13 chapters. 13! It started with four. Keeping in mind I’m still busy, as I find time to complete final edits, I’ll post chapters. Of course, we’ve changed all names and most of the locations. In addition, as a good, if mean, editor, my beloved wife has kept me honest, ensuring as much accuracy as possible as well as raking over my lousy writing. While some are burned into my skull, a lot of the conversations/interactions are the best I can remember. She kept prodding me for more heat, so hopefully we’ve succeeded in making this entertaining as well as informative.

As far as detailing how my wife got into the business, we felt that was outside the scope and nixed grafting it onto this account. However, rest assured, she’s been scribbling her own notes and gathering details so we may see that sometime in the future. Then, I can hack up her stuff!

In any event, we hope you enjoy our story. As bittersweet as some of it was to recall, we both loved crafting it.
