manddscott reviewed this story four years ago and said exactly what I would have. The late Vanessa Ravencroft was a gifted storyteller. All her stories received good scores despite their grammatical flaws, so many readers must have agreed with manddscott.

He/she/they also did the same thing I did - start to track the grammatical errors. However, I have gone one step farther. I have rewritten Volume 1, correcting the grammar. I believe it reads much better now. I did not change anything else, because I really enjoyed the story as it was. Laz has reposted the story with my corrections, so I am taking that to mean he is satisfied that it is an improvement.

Please read or reread this one. If the response is good, as indicated by an increase in the number of votes and at least maintaining the score, I will continue editing the other volumes of this series.

I have left the Technical score at N/A, since it wouldn’t be right to rate myself.

This is the first in a series of stories about a world of neo-Vikings, a group that emigrated from Earth to found a colony dedicated to the old Viking lifestyle and beliefs.

The plot gets an A+ (9), simply due to the level of detail and character development so far. The story takes place nearly 3,000 years from now, so much has changed and become possible.

Where this story lacks most profoundly is in the editing. When I first started reading it, I had downloaded it in Kindle format and made notes for all of the necessary edits. Initially, the number of errors was small, perhaps one or two per page. As the story went on, however, the editing seemed to get worse and worse. It got to the point where I had to stop reading it for a while, then finally finished it a month later. For technical score, it gets a D (5).

Frankly, the appeal score is weighed more heavily to the technical score than anything else. For appeal, it gets a C (6). If the author ever gets around to editing this properly, it would probably rise to an 8 or a 9, so if you can handle a story replete with errors, read away.
