A baby about three days old left on the doorstep of a Chicago police station in 10 degree winter night, is the opening description in Laptopwriters story ‘Why Can’t I Be Loved’.

A very moving tale of a baby growing up in Chicago. In it the baby Carter Larrabe, the name given him because of being wrapped in a Carter brand blanket on Larrabee Street where the police station was located. Carter went through foster families like water through a funnel. The foster families gave him a lot of memories in the form of mental and physical abuse, looking for free labor and money from the state to raise him. Misery, until he reached 15. In his last home it was just a strong back that was needed, until he turned 18 then out the door he went. The foster father took Carter downtown, dropped him off, with a “good luck”, and drove off.

Carter had been dropped off at the homeless shelter, after a quick glance at the conditions inside he immediately knew he needed other accommodations. After discovering he could hide out in the hospital emergency waiting room, that lasted a week.

Finally he discovered Plato’s Place and his life started changing. This was just a brief synopsis of Carter Larrabees life in Chicago, to learn how he turns out you need to read this fantastic story penned by Laptopwriter “Why Can’t I Be Loved”.
