New (old) story: Shilana's Trial

I've just published "Shilana's Trial" here on SOL. It's one of the darker pieces of fiction I have written, dealing with mental issues, bad choices and how to live with them.

Speaking of "bad choices": I have done a fresh edit pass on the story and it has already been brought to my attention that I messed up during the process. I have asked a helpful second pair of eyes to go over it with me once more and will upload another edited version shortly. Sorry for the inconvenience and I hope the handful of typos and errors in a 50,000 word story don't detract too much from your reading enjoyment.

New (old) Story: Leo and the Dragon

I have just uploaded the revised edition of "Leo and the Dragon", my very first fantasy story I initially published back in 2012. No big changes to the plot, only a few fine-tuned passages to get it in line with the current state of my universe.

And before anyone asks - yes, this is the first installment of a longer series detailing the adventures of Leo, Shilana, Arach and the others. While waiting for this to post, I'm already editing the next few stories which should go up shortly. As many of my readers know by now, I don't do "short" and the older works are no different, clocking in at around 30-40k words apop.

The road ahead

Like I said a few entries further down, Mud and Magic VI will take a bit until it is completed. I'm about 7000 words in and the plot barely got going. I guess this will be another of those long-form chapters with at least 20,000 words in the end. Probably without any sex to speak of, the subject matter will be too serious for frivolity.

In the meantime, I will bring over some of the other fantasy stories I've written. They all tie into the "Western Continent" setting where "Mud and Magic" takes place and should be a nice diversion for those who like my kind of storytelling.

Walk of Shame and "Rembrandt Legacy" FAQ

First off, a huge "thank you" to DomAbrazo for notifying me that I have uploaded some older versions of "Mud & Magic" by pointing out some rather ugly typos and mistakes.

I have to admit - my source file folder is quite the mess and so far, I had very few reasons for decent version control. It shall not happen again!

Now, as for "Rembrandt Legacy", my latest offering. The #1 most asked question will be "Will there be a sequel?"

Yes. I have already written in excess of 35,000 words for the follow-up. I did fuck up the internal timeline pretty hard, so most of it needs to be completely reworked, not something I can do on a weekend, especially not with "Mud & Magic" and my real life snapping at my heels. So, for the time being, "The Rembrandt Legacy" is a one-off with a beginning, a middle and an ending, which indeed leaves the door wide open for more.

A quick heads-up regarding "Mud & Magic"

For all of you eager to read the next adventures of Rhys and friends, here's the current status of "Mud & Magic":

"Chapter V - A Visitor" has been handed off to my editor and should be back with me within the week. Barring any major issues, I can upload it the same day.

"Chapter VI - Far From Home" is being worked at. With the average chapter now easily hitting 20,000 words or more, it's not something I can churn out within a few days, so a bit of patience is required. I have pretty high (read: insane) quality standards regarding my own writing, which causes things to drag even more. But the story is underway and will be finished eventually.

Thanks again to all of you kind readers for your votes and comments. That's the fuel which gets me going.
