I generally prefer doing developmental or story/"big picture" editing more than I do doing basic copyediting/proofreading for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. Of course I'll correct those things where I find them, but my preference is to focus my editing energy on your overall story, looking at its plot, flow, continuity, character development, pacing, readability, and other such issues. If necessary I can also do the proofreading, but I also know of a number of excellent proofreaders and copyeditors that I've often worked with who may be willing to take on another author. I am currently editing for two SoL writers. I have been of assistance to an author outside the United States who writes stories set in the U.S. As I’m sure you know, some things are called different names here. For example, “calling” someone in the U.S. means using a telephone. If you’re going in person, you “drop by” or “pay a visit”. Getting pissed only means one thing. Thanks!
